Course: Social Media

Dr.Akcan informed us about social media and its usage. More specifically about how to utilize it, what kind of sharings are appropriate and should we use these accounts in order to communicate with teachers. In the end she answered our questions.

Our mentor Dr. Oren gave his lecture about gastrointestinal system anatomy and radiology. In addition to anatomy, he showed imaging findings of bowel obstruction and acute appendicitis including fat stranding sign, and important complications such as portal thrombophlebitis. Our mentors Dr. Gundogdu and Dr. Kutlu shared their experience on how to do manuscript analyzing, how to work throughout this process and how we can improve our reading and writing skills. Networking Cultural Difference

Dr. Tugce Akcan and Dr. Ayca Zeynep Kutlu gave their presentations about networking. They mentioned how to write emails as a medical student and what we should pay attention to while introducing ourselves. They also shared their experiences in their own process.

Research Techniques Course I: Data Gathering

Dr. Gundogdu gave his course about PubMed searching, data gathering and paper review. He also mentioned how should we study for our long-term goals, how to organize papers more efficiently and what makes a research meaningful. Thanks Dr. Gundogdu for this informative course!

Specialty IV: Pathology

Our mentor Dr. Reyhan Ertekin informed us about being a Pathologist in the USA. Explained job definition, systematic and which fields they can take part of. Also mentioned about workspace options, relationships between colleagues, working hours, and orders. The lesson was handled actively.

Radiology Anatomy Course

Dr. Oren gave his presentation about Radiological Anatomy. Here, an example of the radiology report created in a part of the course with student participation: ”On this MRCP image, there is approximately 3 cm filling defect at the klatskin joint with upstream dilatation.”

How to build a good CV

Our mentor, Dr. Saliha Erdem gave her course about the key facts of preparing an ideal CV, touching on what and how to include it. She touched on questions like “How can we improve ourselves in the writing process?” and “What should we do in order to improve our CVs?”

Toxic Burden of Life

Dr. Gonca Oktay Kocoglu gave her presentation about how social relationships influence our life and health. Harmful effects of unhealthy foods, plastics and pesticides on our body. She also informed us about reading content labels on food packages.

Dr. Oren gave his presentation about Radiological Anatomy. During the lecture hepatocelluler carcinoma and pancreatic adenacarcinoma CT scan findings has explained. The lesson was handled actively with the questions and contributions of the students.

Specialty II: Internal Medicine

Our mentor Dr. Kadir Usta gave his presentation about being a physician and doing a residency in the internal medicine department in the USA. He explained his experience in the matching process, what we need to do to be matched, the residency process, the job description, and the differences.

Radiology Class

Our mentor Nisa Cem Oren gave his first EOSA Radiology lecture of this year. We were able to review the anatomy of the upper abdomen; more specifically liver segments along with cirrhosis and portal hypertension imaging findings. Thanks to Dr. Oren for such educatory lecture.
